A useful request usually names the current motor family, target continuous torque, peak torque, speed, ambient temperature, controller interface, expected production volume and any medical, aerospace or CE documentation target. That context helps the engineering desk avoid vague product suggestions and respond with a motion stack that can actually be reviewed by mechanical, electrical, quality and purchasing teams.

Send drawings, torque curves, existing maxon part numbers or controller configuration notes. Screenshots from a test bench are helpful when current limit, encoder behavior, acoustic noise or thermal rise is the main concern.
Standard RFQ review within 2 business days when load data and target volume are included. Programs with ISO 13485 or AS9100 supplier files may need a deeper document review before a final part path is released.
RFQ checklist
For replacements, list the label data and failure mode. For new designs, describe the motion profile and the physical envelope. For controller reviews, include bus type, feedback device and any safety limit that must be locked before validation.
